"We will be investing to bring to market the latest in affordable disk-to-disk off site storage of valuable data, which is currently being handled by tapes. Tapes all too often fail during restoration, and the amount of human intervention required to ensure 100% availabilty just cannot be guaranteed with them. The most viable and robust alternative is to have data images being sliced into small incremental packets which are then stored automatically throughout the day. These packets are then consolidated at the end of the day, and are sent to redundant facilities off site, automatically. The devices never go on holiday, or forget. Futhermore, these devices, also function as temporary Servers should one of the main Servers go down. All for similar price points as tape drives, and tapes. Basically, tapes are out."
